Yeah, we took a LOT of pictures and videos while we were at Thorpe Park, especially of The Golden Goddess Hyperia, so instead of plastering the main Thorpe Park blog post with them, I’d add a few in a separate post.
Hyperia
We absolutely loved Hyperia. It’s a brilliant coaster and the best in the UK by some way. Although it’s a bit short, it has some fantastic elements and it’s only got a 1.3m height requirement! The colours look fantastic, and its definitely a ride that gleams in the sun. It kinda looks dirty in dull conditions.
Ride Station
The station is cool inside. Though the walk to it is a bit ‘meh’ the station inside looks good. Its quite simple with blueprint-type images of winged animals and the wings logos on the walls. The lighting makes it feel like an event, plus the ‘filling of the wings’ before you leave the station, and the smoke as the train departs add to the theatre of the ride story.
Fearless Valley
I liked Fearless Valley, the look, the decoration and the style. The buildings, shops and maintenance shed all were all well presented and had a very art deco feel about them with the gold and black colour scheme.
Not going to lie though, the overall presentation of the ride and queue area was a bit lacklustre. Its very sparse and untidy, with some parts still looking like a building site. It could definitely do with some additional theming throughout the area and some additional planting, which should come over time, but if you look at Mandrill Mayhem and the whole Jumani area at Chessington, even on opening with newly landscaped pathways, it still looked tidy. Hyperia, sadly doesn’t. Plus, the splashdown on the ride itself is already looking old and rusted.

The Hyporium
The Hyporium is a great touch, theming the name in with the ride and area. It’s a big shop, and I’m glad to see for a big, new coaster it has a lot of merchandise, with some great t-shirts, caps, bags, souvenirs and even wings!
We also spotted this pair of wings with what I can only guess are the initials of everyone involved with the project cut into it. Nice!
