Legoland Windsor

Legoland Windsor, April 2025

Last stop on our roadtrip was at Legoland Windsor Resort. Will we get our coaster cred for Minifigure Speedway's blue track?

We’d spent the night in the Woodland Lodge and Jo and Elliott had already done a full day at Legoland Windsor while me and Evan we’re off on the big coasters at Thorpe Park, but we’re all Lego nerds in our house so we wanted to do a second day to get back on all our favourite rides together. Besides, we were missing a credit from our last trip due to the ride being broken. Minifigure Speedway Blue (Legends) track was waiting for me and Evan. Jo and Elliott snagged it the day before.

The Entrance

Legoland Windsor was undergoing renovations during our visit, the entire entrance archway had been knocked down as they were building a new fancy one. Can’t wait to see that when we next visit, but today it was just construction walls and a building site. So, it was just some security tables and scanners to get us through and into the main entrance courtyard, where you have guest services, the Big Shop and a coffee shop too.

Easter Event

Whilst it said there was an Easter event on, it didn’t really look like there was one. The flyer we picked up advertised an Easter egg hunt, where they were giving you an Easter egg if you completed the trail and went back up to the entrance plaza when you’d done. On the first day, Jo and Elliott didn’t spot any of the Easter eggs, and I think we only found one on the second day. Back up at the entrance on day one and the cart to collect an egg wasn’t there. We did spot it early afternoon on the second day, but we sill hadn’t done the egg hunt to collect one. They were those £1ish Cadbury’s Mini Eggs ones, so a decent treat if you take part. We weren’t too fussed though.

Easter display

As for Easter theming, there wasn’t a great deal. Whether I’m over-expecting things, but at a kids park like Legoland I’d expect more Easter bunting and such. I think there was a few things in Miniland, and one large fenced-off floral display with a brick built Easter bunny minifig and some large Easter eggs, outside the big shop, but nothing else.

Minifigure Speedway

First port of call was that elusive blue track, and we were there for ride opening. The queue was about 20 minutes and we ended up on orange track (All-Stars). Minifigure Speedway is a fun addition to the park. A duelling boomerang coaster that feels a bit cheap, like a 2nd hand purchase and is nothing special and can be a bit rough on the adults too. It certainly adds to the parks capacity and is a fun ride, but its a bit of a let down. I expected more from a new Legoland ride. And I still didn’t get on the blue track. Curse you coaster credits, I’ll get it next time!!!!!

The Dragon

Stop number two was over in Knights Kingdom for a ride on the Dragon. Again, a reasonable queue, about 30 mins, for a school holiday day. We love the dragon. Not the most thrilling coaster in the world, and it’s showing its age, but the giant castle facade and the theming in the dark ride section make it a fun experience. Elliott will say its his favourite coaster, and he’s been on Stardust Racers at Epic Universe since, but he’ll still say it!

Events at The Brick

The Brick in Miniland is a Lego brick shaped building that houses large pits of Lego blocks for you to build with. Sometimes they have a theme or event where you can earn a pop badge, and today it was building vegetables. We all got stuck in to build and display something. The kids built some pumpkins and tomatoes. Not gonna lie, I thought my Chilli Pepper with eyes was pretty good!

New at Miniland

We don’t always walk around Miniland, we’ve seen it many times. But with the Merlin pass we can visit whenever we like, so we can just take it slow in the parks, and so we took a stroll to see what’s new. Over in London, they’ve added some new towers. The Gherkin and the Cheesegrater buildings are now there, along with the skyscrapers of Canary Wharf and a few new boats and models around.

Miniland London looking refreshed

The London area certainly looks refreshed. Hope they’ll be following up with refreshes around the rest of Miniland. They do have some great builds on display here too, from the Eiffel Tower to the Sydney Opera House, there’s plenty of world famous landmarks. I think this was the first time we’ve noticed The Orca being chased by Jaws too! They’re definitely gonna need a bigger boat!

New Ride for Elliott Time

One of the only rides in the park Elliott had been unable to do until now was Autumn’s Riding Adventure, the Zamperla Disk’o, located in the Heartlake section. This used to be Mia’s Riding Adventure, so I’m not sure when or why there was a change of ownership, but hey. Both me and Evan love a Zamperla Disk’o and this is one that doesn’t have the hump in the middle, more like a half pipe version. Elliott has never been on this or any Disk’o ride so he was pretty excited. It was a no from Jo, so he had to wait for day 2 to try it. And he loved it. They’re great fun, spinning as they move up and down along the track area. Kind of like a pirate ship if it spun around. Like a giant, more forceful rocking tug ride.

It was a relaxing walk around Legoland today, aside from a quick go on Thunder Blazer (the chair swing ride) that’s all we did. We didn’t even get on Mythica, Flight of the Sky Lion which is our favourite flying theatre ride. Jo and Elliott got on it the day before so we’ll have to get back there again soon.

Whilst they were there the previous day, they’d ridden Merlin’s Challenge (the spinning roundabout type ride) which is so much fun but a little painful, Dragons Apprentice (the junior coaster) plus the big coasters and more. They’d even made some time to do some pop badge swapping, so we’ve got a load more to add to the pile now!

Lake Show

On the first day, Jo and Elliott pitched up by the lake for some ice creams and to watch the advertised show, which never happened. Signs were still out for it, but no show. Its such a disappointment that Merlin had cancelled all of the live entertainment across their parks. Here at Legoland Windsor, the lake show was a great bit of entertainment with a recently renovated show area on the lake, where we’ve seen pirate stunt shows, Halloween monster shows and Lego Friends shows too.

A Short Second Day

We made a little time before we had to leave to check out the Big Shop before heading back to the Woodland Lodge to get in the car. Altogether we’d had a fun couple of days at Legoland Windsor, but Me and Evan needed to nip back to Thorpe Park for a ride on Hyperia.

Final Musings

We’ve been to Legoland Windsor many times over the last 4 or 5 years. We always try and make at least one trip down every year, but that will change now we have our passes. Yes, its a 4 hour drive for us, but we’ve always tried to tie it in with something else, like Chessington, Thorpe Park or the Warner Bros Studio Tour. Its a little tired looking in places, but still a fun experience and great for younger kids. Newer areas like Mythica really stand out against some of the older sections, which could do with improving, and fingers crossed we’re seeing the start of those improvements with the entrance, so who knows what the future holds. We’ll be back here very soon, I’m sure!

As usual, you can find full info and prices on their official site.
