Legoland Windsor Christmas

Legoland Windsor at Christmas, December 2025

What better way to spend your 47th birthday than a festive trip to Legoland Windsor

After a busy day at Hyde Park Winter Wonderland the day before, we’d booked another post-Christmas theme park day at Elliott’s favourite place – Legoland Windsor – to see it all dolled up for Christmas before the season passed. It was also my birthday. Did I get my name on the birthday board? Damn right I did!

What’s on at Legoland Windsor at Christmas?

The park is open over the festive period with a selection of the rides and attractions available. I think there was only Minifigure Speedway, all of Mythica, the Jolly Rocker and Pirate Falls closed, so you could still enjoy The Dragon, Spinning Spider, Ninjago and other favourites. The brick was also open for some festive building, with the promise of a Santa pop badge at the end!

Festive Decorations

As you walk in under the new archway, you’re greeted by a Santa minifig build for a festive photo, before entering the main courtyard area, home to the giant Duplo Christmas tree. This looked great, especially later on. The real trees in the entrance area were glittering with fairy lights and the Duplo tree was a sea of colours and decorated with brick built stars, baubles and candles. Just behind the tree was a large Legoland postcard made up of lights, with twinkling representations of the Legoland gate, the castle and some coaster track. Amazing.

Christmas trees everywhere

Around the rest of the park were hundreds of Christmas trees with multicoloured lights which really brightened the park. You could find mini builds of different elves scattered around, cutouts of festive minifig pictures, wintery Lego scenes, life-sized brick built reindeer and there was even a giant model of Ollie the Dragon in a Christmas tree costume. Some of the rides had been decorated with lights too, with the Ninjago buildings rooftops covered in icicle lights on all levels and looking very festive indeed!

Christmas Kingdom

We didn’t get to venture into the Christmas Kingdom area to meet Santa as it was after Christmas, so he was probably resting after his busy night of delivering presents. It was an upcharged meet and greet with Santa and his Elves, but we could see along the pathway which was a sea of trees. Watch the Channel 4 Documentary on it if you can. It showed how they were using 600 real trees all covered with fake snow.

Shows

The little stage outside the brick was hosting a few shows too. Some festive sing-alongs and some dancing. We caught Elf Training Academy and Festival of Flurries, featuring guest appearances from some of the minifigs. There was also a nutcracker band playing at select intervals around the park. We heard them playing but we were stuck in a queue for the Dragon, so we missed it. Sounded fun though.

Miniland at Christmas

We couldn’t miss a look around Miniland to see what festive stories it was telling. We found Santa flying past Big Ben, and the Grinch running along the rooftops of Westminister, builds of people making snow angels, a Christmas market scene, reindeer in the trees, carol singers, and light projections on some of the buildings. The area looked great at night too with the extra lighting around some of the trees and extra lights on the builds.

Inside The Brick

There’s always build events inside the Brick. Today, it was all about #BuildToGive, where Lego were encouraging guests to make Lego heart shapes and for each one photographed, shared and hash-tagged, Lego would donate a set to children’s charities. We built a few. Inside was also a fantastic Santa build with a multicoloured, snowflake covered sack filled with toys and an illuminated lantern.

Legoland Hotel

Not that we were staying at the hotel, but from the path near Deep Sea Adventure, we spotted some characters outside so went for a look. Just outside the hotel was a giant bauble covered Christmas tree, and we were just in time for a birthday snap with Ollie the Dragon.

What Rides Were Open?

We started our day with Elliott’s favourite the Dragon, Merlins Apprentice was just as fun (and painful) as always. Dragons apprentice was also open, but it takes forever. Spinning Spiders was in top gear, I don’t think we’ve ever made it spin that fast, and I came off it feeling a tad dizzy. We took a spin on Autumns Riding Adventure and Deep Sea Adventure was open for a chance to warm up from the wintry weather.

And in all the years of us visiting Legoland Windsor, we’ve never tried the Driving School. I’ve always been under the impression you had to pay extra to do it, but you only pay for the licence, the ride itself is included in a normal ticket, so Elliott was quite happy to jump in and go for a spin! Other rides available were Monster House Party, Duplo Dino Coaster, the Legoland Express and Thunder Blazer to name a few.

Its Legoland Windsor Worth a Christmas Visit?

We enjoyed our day and we we’re glad we’d made the trip. There was plenty of rides available and queues were pretty short so we got on everything we wanted to. The shows were fun and enjoyed by all the kids watching, though ours weren’t really interested. The park itself looks great, but I feel like if any park could make more effort for seasonal events it’s Legoland. It’s the perfect spot for kids over Christmas.
