Walibi Belgium

Walibi Belgium, April 2026

Belgium trip stop 1 - We visited Walibi Belgium to catch a ride on Mecalodon!

Wow. What a great park. It was touch and go whether driving so far on our inaugural European roadtrip was a good idea, but I can confirm it was worth the effort. Walibi Belgium, around 2 and a half hours from Calais and we absolutely loved it!

Yes, this was our first foray into the world of ‘driving on the wrong side of the road’ so there were some initial nerves, but it was a fairly straightforward drive. Walibi Belgium is located in the town of Wavre, just the other side of Brussels. Check out our Belgium trip post for info on the journey.

Arriving At Walibi

We picked a great day for it. We rolled into the car park at around 9.45 am and it was quiet. We were parked near the front, the sun was out, it felt like it was going to be a great day! Scanning our tickets in was done quickly by the staff and we were on our way for our first trip to Walibi Belgium.

How Much Does Walibi Belgium Cost?

As with any park book in advance as its always cheaper. A ticket to enter Walibi Belgium in the 2026 season will cost you €56 on the gate or €54 online. Booking further out will get you in for €44 if you book over 7 days out, €46 if 5-6 days out and 4 days out will be €48. Its all a bit much. Pricing is height dependant, so anyone over 1.4m pays full price while discounts available for anyone 1-1.4m, seniors or disabilities, and under 1m are free. Car park tickets will add an extra €13 to your bill, and you can buy extras like fast passes.

Luckily we managed to get an early season ticket offer, getting us in at a reduced rate. The park only opened for the season early April, which was good timing for us. The tickets cost €42 per person, plus the €13 for parking, so €181, which worked out at about £158 when converted.

About Walibi Belgium

It’s a beautiful park, and bigger than I thought it was going to be. It seemed very clean and tidy, and it’s really well themed. Lots of different areas to explore: You enter at Walibi Boulevard, and then circle around the lake visiting Karma World, Fun World, Dock World, Exotic World, Adventure World and… Loup Garou Zone. Yeah, that last one needs a re-think.

The park is home to 10 rollercoasters, plenty of flat rides and dark rides to suit guests of all ages and heights, shops, food options and bars. Lets get into some of the awesome rides.

Mecalodon

It was the reason we wanted to visit Walibi Belgium. Mecalodon, the 2025 Gerstlauer family coaster is a thing of beauty. Its got the feeling and ride style of Hiccups Wing Gliders at Epic Universe, like a Junior Hagrid’s feel. Might not be as well themed as the Universal offerings, but still looks amazing and lots of fun regardless. Its located in Dock World, so the queue and station are themed like wooden shipyard buildings, with lifesavers and novelty signs and posters all around. “I like big boats and I cannot lie!”

You’ll experience 3 LSM launches and a series of great twists, turns and airtime hills as the blue track speeds around over the water. The train is designed as a mechanical shark and looks fantastic. Fast, lots of fun, and very re-rideable. I think Elliott did about 4-5 laps. It’s a really great family coaster, and definitely one of the best of it’s kind that we’ve experienced.

Lots of great merch in the gift shop too! I find the parks back home don’t always have a great selection of children’s clothing options, but Mecalodon had plenty of options for everyone! T-shirts, toys, mugs and magnets, glasses, drink bottles, books, hats, keyrings and lots of Mecalodon shark plushes.

Kondaa

Whilst Mecalodon was the family favourite, Kondaa took the top spot for me and our eldest. An Intamin Mega coaster that was an absolute airtime monster. The area Kondaa lives in with its accompanying flat ride, Kondaala, is stunning. Rock work all around like some some kind of lost world scene, with a giant skull in the centre and rope bridge over the water beneath.

Back to the ride. Whilst the queue is mainly outdoor wooden cattle pens, the indoor area and station look great. The station has a dark, brooding vibe with cave painting style drawings and skulls dotted around. The lighting in there has a fiery glow, and the music when the train departs and returns has a jungle music and drums vibe. No theming around the track, but you don’t need it. No time for looking at theming when you’re flying out of your seat for the next few mins. Starting at 150 feet in the air, and then up and down and around from start to finish. And those final few hops at the end were the cherry on the cake!

Tiki Waka

A tiki themed Gerstlauer Bobsled coaster that was good fun. Always seemed to have a bigger queue than most of the other rides, but nothing bad. Its a race to win the Tiki cup that will take you on some fun twists and turns. Felt a bit like Mine Cart Madness but less rough.

Dalton Terror

I both love and hate drop towers. I enjoy the buzz of being up that high and plummeting to the ground, but I always question why I do these rides while I’m sitting at the top. Intamin’s Dalton Terror was one of the better ones we’ve done. Quite forceful and with a height of 253 feet, you get really good views across the park.

Pulsar

A Mack Rides Power Splash. Not much of a layout, its more like a Zamperla Disk’o with a splashdown at the end. Launch back and forth, then boom. Wet. I didn’t think we were going to get the cred for this as it was closed early on and there were staff on the track, but it opened for the afternoon.

Challenge of Tutankhamun

An indoor shooter ride with an Egyptian theme. We quite like a decent shooter and this one looks great inside with some good scenery, models and fire effects. A few different paths to take if you get a good score so its very re-rideable,

Vampire

A Vekoma SLC. Good layout, but bad restraints spoil the ride, so it just comes off as a bit rough. It sits in its own area near the front of the park with gothic buildings and theming. Looks really good, just shame about the ride.

Cobra

A Vekoma boomerang coaster. Simple, fun layout and they’re always a laugh. Not the comfiest ride, but still enjoyable. This one lives in Karma World and has a lot of Indian inspired theming around it.

Loup Garou (Werewolf)

Well…. I always laugh when I’m on a really good coaster, but this made me laugh for different reasons. Its a Vekoma wooden coaster that is really fast with a decent layout, but my god does it throw you about. On the plus side it has padded seats so you don’t get smashed to pieces!

Enter Loup Garou… if you dare!

I went on alone while the kids were eating ice creams, as a test run to make sure it was alright for Elliott who’s just a touch over 1.25m. And I came off warning them it was like being in a washing machine, but both he and our eldest were determined to get their cred. Unfortunately that meant I had to go on further 2 times! Whilst you feel like you’re holding on for dear life, it was a lot of fun.

Turbine

An Indoor Schwarzkopf Shuttle loop coaster. Reminded me of Thunder Looper (which it would, being the same make and model) that used to be at Alton Towers back in the day, but indoors and in the dark. Located in Dock World, this one was quite fun, but I’m not a big fan of coasters in pitch black.

Buzzsaw

A Huss Top Spin, the same model as the old Ripsaw at Towers with the seats that both rows face forwards. This one had a decent cycle, and the water jets were on, but we didn’t get a soaking.

Popcorn Revenge

The unexpected highlight of the day. Another indoor shooter / trackless ride located in Karma World. This one was themed to a cinema, where all the films are starring popcorn. All through the queue are movie posters from popular films changed to be popcorn versions. Harry Popper, Pop Busters, Captain Pop and loads more. Theming wise, the entrance and queue is spot on as a Bollywood movie theatre. The ride was hilarious.

Popcorn Revenge – Best ride ever!

The ride system takes you into the foyer, then swings you into a number of different film scenes with popcorn cartoons styled as movie characters like Hulk and Thanos with plenty of fun Easter eggs from the likes of Jurassic Park. The gift shop was also rammed with popcorn character plushes and souvenirs. Wish we’d dome more rides on this.

Calamity Mine

This was a really well themed mine train ride. A really fun ride. Mine trains are a theme park staple, and this one was done well. Definitely one of the better looking ones we’ve done. Lots of rock work and bridges, waterfalls and decoration. Like a small version of Big Thunder Mountain at Disney.

Silverton

This was an awesome looking steampunk car themed spinning ride with interactive steam and sound effects. It looked really nice and was a fun flat ride. We loved it.

Other Rides & Attractions

The park is rammed with rides to suit everyone. Over in Kids Zone there was Fun Pilot, a 2-lap special kids coaster, The spinning Octopus near Tiki Waka, Kondaala – a swing ride, Guitar Riff, a kids drop tower, Radja River Rapids, Flash Back flume, train rides, spinning rides, wave swingers, track rides, 4D cinema and lots of smaller rides too. There is a show area (Tiki Theatre) which we didn’t see anything going on at, but there was a magic show over in Kids Zone.

Walibi Belgium Kondaala
Kondaala

You could also do meet and greets with Walibi, the park mascot. Elliott and mum grabbed a snap with him in his sailor outfit and we did spot him in his classic red t-shirt at the stage near Loup Garou too!

Food & Drink

We didn’t buy a lot of food and drink while we were there. I did grab a beer from Star Saloon, the outdoor bar in Adventure World which was reasonably priced. Bottles of water were quite pricey though and there are no water refill points around, but you can ask at food areas to fill your bottles. We did get some kids burgers from the Dalton Burger next door, at a reasonable €5.50 each for a standard issue fast food burger. Tasted alright too!

Walibi Belgium Adventure World Seating
Adventure World Seating Area

There were plenty of restaurants, snack stalls, hot dog vans, ice cream stalls and such around the park. Plenty of places to sit too, with lots of open and canopied seating areas around. I presume you can take food in, as no one really checked bags, so there’s plenty of spots to enjoy a picnic. The cocktail bar in Tiki World was closed (I presume its seasonal), and we did notice that the bigger restaurants closed earlier, so don’t hang about until the end of the day to grab a bite before you leave.

Thoughts on Walibi Belgium

We loved Walibi Belgium. It was a massive hit with the kids and with us adults too. The scenery and theming are fantastic, the park itself is tastefully landscaped with little lakes and ponds though the centre, with rides criss-crossing though them, fountains spraying in some and bridges to cross others.

Each world you step into is brilliantly finished. Adventure World and Kondaa look exceptional, Dock World is so impressive with its nautical vibe and Exotic world with the Tiki theme and Egyptian feel are great. Whilst they don’t have the IPs to pull from what Disney and Universal do, Walibi Belgium shows that you don’t have to have the big names like Harry Potter and Star Wars to make an area of your park immersive and look great.

Walibi Belgium Scenery
Walibi Belgium is a beautiful park

There’s such a great selection of rides too. Coasters, flat rides, water rides, dark rides, and its not like they’re all naff either. Even the kiddie rides look great.

We dropped lucky on a day where there were minimal queues, so we did re-rides on several of our favourites, but we could have easily enjoyed a full second day getting on some of the smaller rides and trying the restaurants. Its definitely a park we’ll come back to. Mecalodon jumped straight to the top of Elliott’s fave coasters, and both Mecalodon and Kondaa are rated highly on my list too. And lets not forget Popcorn Revenge, we loved that.

Views From Adventure World

Its a park that only popped on our radar over the last 12 months, and I’m so glad that we were able to make the journey to experience it!

At the end of our day it was back to the car for a 90 min drive to out hotel. First things first, we had to get out of the car park, which was trickier than it should have been! There were barcodes and QR codes all over the ticket, and it took us a minute to scan the right one! Ah well. Next stop: Plopsaland Belgium!
